An ex-battery hen is living her best life after being rescued - and now goes surfing, on camping trips and loves having her feathers blowdried.

Wendy, an isa brown chicken, moved in with Lauren Williams, 43, and her husband, Matt, 44, a nurse, in February 2022 and has been treated like a princess ever since.

The couple got the hen from a contact who rescues battery hens before they are slaughtered and Wendy arrived with a damaged leg and no tail.

But she is now ruling the roost at Lauren and Matt's home in Perth, Australia - where she hops to the fridge when she fancies being handfed blueberries or grapes.

Wendy lives indoors with the pair and they take her out on day trips - carrying her around in a sling or pushing her in a pram if the weather's hot.

They take Wendy on camping holidays and she's even had a go at surfing when Lauren popped her on a board during a day at the beach.

Lauren, a bookkeeper and pet sitter, said: \

There was some Bank Holiday blues for this ‘beach-goer’ in Tenby, as they seemingly got their vehicle stuck in the sand on South Beach!
Motorists are not permitted to drive onto any of the seaside town’s beaches freely, but that didn’t deter this driver today (Saturday) on the start to what wil be a busy May Bank Holiday weekend.
A photo shared on Facebook by David Thomas simply captioned ‘oops’ drew 100s of comments from members of the ‘Tenby’ group.
It’s not the first such mishap, which mimics an incident back in 2015 when a pair of American tourists got their vehicle stuck in the sands on Castle Beach after they had set their Sat Nav to visit the monastic island of Caldey off Tenby!
The mishap was documented by best-selling American author and travel writer Bill Bryson in a chapter about Tenby featured in his ‘The Road to Little Dribbling’ book.
Last year, a vehicle also got stuck on the public footpath by Tenby lifeboat station for almost a week, with the vehicle said to have been driven onto the footpath which clearly states ‘no entry’ to vehicles, by holidaymakers from the USA who were trying to find their way to the Prince Albert statue on Castle Hill and ended up abandoning their vehicle!

©Vid: Natalya Hinde/Facebook
©Pic: David Thomas/Facebook

Gig-goers at Saundersfoot harbour enjoyed a ‘performance...and cocktails’ to bring in the May Bank Holiday, and ‘just looking’ at the crowd that enjoyed this flagship event for the seaside village - tribute band The Phonics (backed by Dean Jones as Tom Jones) certainly delivered the tunes!
Running through a Stereophonics best of setlist (who had a hit themselves with a track called Bank Holiday Monday) - The Phonics and Tom certainly got the harbour decking rocking - and despite it being a wet start to the holiday weekend, it didn’t dampen the spirits of the audience on May 3, as they sang-along to hits such as Dakota and Mama Told Me Not To Come.
Posting on Facebook, The Phonics said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in organising our show at Saundersfoot Harbour - to say we were blown away by how perfect everything was is an understatement!
“Everything from the sound and lighting crew, the hospitality, and of course everyone who bought tickets. The memories from this one will stay with us forever.”
Guitarist with the tribute band, Kevin McGuire also praised the organisation of the gig.
“You should be so proud of yourselves, you're a prime example of how things should be organised, you did everything perfectly, and we (The Phonics) appreciate everything you did for us, so massive thanks once again,” he remarked.
“Oh and you wouldn't need to ask twice for us to come back, we'd be there in a heartbeat!”
Saundersfoot Harbour also thanked those that attended the concert: “Wow - completely blown away by the support shown last night from all those that attended our first large scale music event at the harbour.

“The harbour team were phenomenal as usual, all the event contractors were superb, the bands epic and the audience - just wow!
“Being a Trust Port, the support from the community means so much to us.
“All profits made are ploughed straight back into the harbour so that the harbour can continue to host a variety events and keep the harbour facilities well maintained for all to enjoy now and in the future.”

Videos: ©The Phonics/Saundersfoot Harbour
Pic: ©Gareth Davies Photography
Part 3 of 3 of the acclaimed teenage drama. With Lily now pregnant, the flatmates decide to go and live at Rob's mother's holiday let in a bid to make a fresh start and get clean. But kicking the habit proves hard and when Rob is discovered to still have a stash of heroin on him, the foursome slip back into old ways of drug dependency. But when the police raid the squat when Lily goes into labour, it forces one of them to reassess their lives and try to make a clean break of their drug addiction. But which one will it be?

This is another attempted upload of this episode after it was blocked last night. I have had to mute the music at the party to remove The Cure's music so fingers crossed this will be allowed up this time. But for those who wish to see it in it's unedited version, I will be uploading the series in full on my other channel on OK at the weekend. This made a name for actress Jemima Rooper, formerly a child star in The Famous Five. But an interesting bit of trivia is that she beat another former child star in the last 4 of the auditions for the part, that of Victoria Shalet of The Queen's Nose fame, who was a big fan of the novel.

Drive-by flytippers targeting a Pembrokeshire church’s cemetery have been slammed by a local councillor.
County councillor for Saundersfoot’s south ward Cllr Chris Williams who has been working with Pembrokeshire County Council to tackle illegal waste disposal around the village, highlighted recent abuse of bins that sit inside the grounds of St Issells Church, with occupants of vehicles driving past, disposing of their rubbish at the spot.
“Whilst work was being done on behalf of Saundersfoot Community Council at the cemetery, it was noticed that these bins were being added to by cars pulling up. One vehicle was witnessed disposing of their rubbish just over the wall!” he remarked.
“These bins are for the users of the cemetery and they are collected each week by the Community Council.
“My view is that the cemetery is a place for peaceful thoughts and everyone who attends their loved one’s graves always clears up their discarded flower and bouquets and disposes them into the bins provided,” he continued.
“This is a cost that Saundersfoot Community Council can’t keep covering and they are now potentially looking at moving the bins from the side of the road to a more suitable position in the cemetery for their users, so they don’t get abused.
“I will fully support the Community Council on this and welcome its swift action in making the cemetery as clean as possible for anyone who visits.”
A list of holiday let accommodation around Saundersfoot has been included in a trial to ensure that proper waste trade agreements are in place at properties, in line with Government guidelines regarding waste and recycling.
“The majority of organisations have this in place and the transition period has gone relatively smoothly across the village,” said Cllr Williams.
“However, there are still a few holiday let properties who continue to flaunt the rules and dispose of their rubbish into the many local bins.
“One property guest showed me the information that was in the property pack recently, which I will quote – ‘Alternatively, you may wish to dispose of your non-recyclable household rubbish on a daily basis by using the local street bins’
“This is totally unacceptable and actions by a very small minority of unscrupulous holiday homeowners are giving the majority a bad name.
‘“The matter was dealt with immediately and the property in question will now have to provide an agreement for their waste to PCC as they didn’t have one.”
