The female fly carefully chooses a suitable plant based on the quality of the aboveground tissues, and lays her eggs in the soil close to the roots.nnIn this time-lapse movie, we placed roughly 50 eggs near a young Brussels sprouts plant, a number that is sometimes found in cabbage farms. As the eggs hatch, the larvae quickly find their way to the primary root, which they invade and start eat
